This song is about our observation of Nature, people and different emotions when we are silent. I was delighted to compose music to my dear friend, Janice's gorgeous poem and I hope you enjoy it!

Living ever closer to the trees
Lying in peaceful slumber 'neath their crowded, waving limbs
The leaves a rustling dance of wind and light for me alone
The earth that pounds my blood like march of drums and battle hymns.

If I were silent
Walking quickly on crowded street
The flow of faces here and gone my eyes see what they will
Faster they come in in a thicking stream of noise and heat and light
Unfound, unseen and lone the pavement moves me forward still

If I were silent
Swimming blindly in a Northern sea
Pounding waves of cold salt and sand the brooding rocks are scoured
Thrown fast and hard on the ocean floor the water twists and pulls
My beating heart is washed and pure, my trembling soul devoured

If I were silent
Bathed in sun on Nature's hidden perch
Clasped to your heart, palms on your skin, a touch both warm and smooth
Gifted with the moment, common heart but separate mind
A force divine that brands the soul to pierce, to burn and to soothe
